I wrote a little bit last week about the best practices to host a fuss-free cocktail hour or holiday party. In continuance of that theme, this week I’m going to talk a little more about party planning. I find that the easiest way to keep guests happy (not hangry) is by including a variety of small snacks and nibbles on your menu. Everyone loves appetisers, and moreover, it allows you (the host), some time before the actual dinner to just hang out and chill.
I love using a mix of different sized bowls, little platters, and boards to set up an array of bite-sized food. Think crackers and cheeses, chips and salsa, dips and crudités, crostinis, Vietnamese rolls, and other appetisers. These wooden bowls and things from Studio Objectry are the best for this purpose! They have wonderful bowls (of different sizes) and other small serving things like platters, cheeseboards and dip bowls, and I love their minimal geometric aesthetic. Even though all the products are handmade, they have clean lines, crisp curves, and beautiful symmetry.
Get an assortment of bowls and platters of different grains of wood (to get more textural contrast), and fill them up with appetisers to lay out on the table during your party. It’s easy, quick, and most importantly – fuss free!
